1. Is The Vault a safe place to store my car?
Absolutely. Security is our top priority at both our Miramar and Downtown locations. The Vault is a private facility with no public access, featuring a single reinforced entry and exit point for added protection. We partner with one of San Diego’s leading security firms to monitor our buildings using motion detectors, advanced sensors, and a comprehensive video surveillance system. Whether you need month-to-month or long-term storage, you can trust The Vault to keep your vehicle secure—locked down like a true vault.
2. Can I pick up my car while it’s in storage?
Absolutely. The Vault provides seamless in-and-out access as part of our Preferred Service. In most cases, you’re welcome to leave another vehicle in its place when picking one up. To make the process even more convenient, we offer a proprietary mobile app that allows you to easily schedule vehicle pickups and drop-offs at your convenience.
3. How long can I store my car at The Vault?
Storage at The Vault is completely flexible. Whether you need short-term storage on a month-to-month basis or long-term protection for years, there are no time commitments or contracts. We’re here to safeguard your investment for as long as you need—keeping your vehicle in excellent condition and ready to drive whenever you are.
4. Do I need to maintain my insurance while my vehicle is stored at The Vault?
Yes. While The Vault carries a comprehensive “Garage Keepers” insurance policy that protects vehicles in our care in the event of an operational incident, we do require clients to maintain at least the comprehensive portion of their own auto insurance policy during storage. Many insurance providers offer reduced-rate policies for vehicles that are not in regular use. If needed, we can connect you with one of our preferred insurance brokers who specialize in long-term vehicle storage coverage and can help you explore the best options.
5. How should I prepare my car for storage?
Preparation depends on how long you plan to store your vehicle. Our team at The Vault is happy to guide you through the best practices for long-term storage to help ensure your car remains in optimal condition. Here are a few key steps to take before storing your car:
a. Ensure tires are properly inflated
b. Change oil and check all fluids
c. Thoroughly clean and wax the exterior
d. Fill the gas tank
Taking these simple steps—along with regular care from The Vault—will help ensure your car drives out just as beautifully as it drove in.
6. What services are provided for my car while it’s at The Vault?
At The Vault, every vehicle receives attentive care as part of our standard service. This includes:
a. Battery tender connection to maintain charge
b. Regular tire pressure checks
c. Monthly engine start and run-up to circulate fluids and keep seals and gaskets properly lubricated
Our goal is to ensure your vehicle stays in peak condition—ready to drive whenever you are.
7. Can The Vault help me sell my car?
Yes. The Vault has partnered with Symbolic International—a trusted name in the industry with over 30 years of experience in San Diego—to assist with vehicle sales and consignments. Many of our members have relied on Symbolic for expert guidance, valuations, and sourcing unique vehicles. Whether you’re buying or selling, The Vault and Symbolic work together to ensure a seamless, top-tier experience.
8. Does my car need to be registered?
